What is Measure 6?

In the past 10 years, Somerville residents have raised $35 million through the Community Preservation Act, which unlocked another $315 million from other sources. Somerville has spent this on affordable housing, parks, playgrounds, and historic landmarks.

This November, Somerville residents have the chance to pass Measure 6, which would double funding for the Community Preservation Act and double its impact.

What has the Community Preservation Act done so far?

Half of CPA funding has been spent on affordable housing!

  • $10M bonded for the 100 Homes Project
  • Clarendon Hill redevelopment project
  • Mystic Waterworks for low-income seniors
  • Somerville Homeless Coalition

PARKS AND LIBRARIES

  • Prospect Hill Park
  • West Branch Library
  • Allen St and Hoyt Sullivan playgrounds

PUBLIC SCHOOL PLAYGROUNDS

  • Kennedy
  • Healey
  • Brown
  • West Somerville
  • Winter Hill

For every $1 of local CPA funds, the CPA has brought $10 into the Somerville community.

Who pays?

Condo owners would see an average increase of $38 a year.
Owners of single-family homes would see an average increase of $93 a year.
Low-income homeowners and moderate-income older adults would be exempt.

How can I get involved?

The Yes on 6! campaign is made up of Somerville residents who want our community to be welcoming and enjoyable for generations to come. If you’d like to join your friends and neighbors, we could use your help knocking on doors, handing out flyers, and getting the word out about Yes on 6! before election day.
